Hello, PORVA family!

Praying that all is well and those kids home from school aren't driving you completely crazy!

Through these unusual and uncertain times, we have felt the peace of the Lord and know that He is with us. We have confidence that the God of all creation is in control.

Your safety and the well-being of our community continues to be our utmost priority. In accordance with the local and federal recommendations, we have made some temporary changes to our upcoming gathering times.

Mid-week Home Groups will be conducted via Google Meet video calls through March 25. If you are not currently in a Home Group, please contact us HERE to get started. It's a great way to stay connected during this season of social distancing. We need each other!

Our 10AM Sunday services will be online via Facebook, YouTube, our website and our app through March 29. Access these platforms to watch these services @ There will be no Sunday PM services through March. All other scheduled events/activities have been canceled through March. After this time period, we will reassess the situation and update you accordingly.

It's so important - now more than ever - to stay connected to your church family. Praying God's peace, strength and protection on you and yours during this time. Keep your head up and your faith strong! God's got this.

I want to start by saying that it’s really important  that we stay unified, committed, connected and encouraged during this time.  If there was ever a time when the church needs to be firm in its commitment to God and to one another… this is it.

I also believe that Home Groups are very needed right now. We need to be talking to one another, praying for one another, and helping to keep our collective focus on the amazing promises of God that can bring peace regardless of what’s happening around us.

We will certainly not be stopping our Home Groups.  We believe that it’s more important than ever. We will, however, be changing the format.  We will meet online for at least the next 2 weeks, and we’ll be sure to keep you informed about our future plans at that time.

So… if you are not connected to Home Group right now, please contact the PORVA Office at 804-276-1105 and we will assist you in finding one.

If you are connected to a Home Group, your Home Group Leader will be contacting you today about instructions for the virtual Home Group at 7pm on March 18th.

March 13

Hello PORVA Family,

We’re keeping a close eye on the coronavirus with you.  We continue to evaluate the situation as we get guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), and Chesterfield County .  Your safety and well-being are of the utmost importance to us. We also want to be conscientious of our responsibility to our community by actively taking part in preventing the spread of COVID-19.

As of today, our Governor and local county officials have declared a state of emergency which includes, among other things, a call for the suspension of gatherings of 250 or more.

Here’s our plan… this Sunday, March 15, instead of gathering in person, we’ll be gathering ONLINE for a full worship service at 10AM.  Our music team will lead us in worship, and I’ll be preaching. We will livestream this event, and our hope is that everyone will join us via the website (, Facebook, YouTube or our church app.  Let’s make this the largest online service we’ve ever had! I’d also ask you to join with your family for 10 minutes of prayer before service. Afterward, this will be posted to our social media outlets as usual.

Only essential team members will be on site to help create an engaging and anointed online worship experience, and we’re asking our PORVA family to join us from home.

We know that this type of worship experience isn’t typical, but Christians have used many different methods to meet throughout the centuries when times were tough.  We’re grateful for technology that allows us to continue to worship Jesus together… even if it’s in a digital format this week!

What about financial giving since we won't be together? Your giving is important and needed, so we encourage you to use our online giving platforms ( and our app).

The decision to go digital this week is not due to panic.  Instead, it’s an effort to take wise measures to reduce the chances of spreading the virus.  Just like other organizations in our community, we want to do our part to put preventative measures in place.  We remain sober-minded about COVID-19, but we are not fearful. Fear is one of our enemy’s favorite weapons. Instead of giving into doom, gloom or dread… we will continue to trust God completely.  He’s still Savior, Healer, Protector, and Provider. This situation didn’t catch Him off guard, and He will be with us as we face this challenge.

In addition to moving to a digital format on Sunday AM, we’ll also be postponing all activities that were scheduled to take place on our campus during the coming week, effective immediately.  This includes tonight’s Planet Kidz Game Night, Sunday PM service, classes and training events. We will reassess these measures weekly as we continue to monitor statements from local health and government officials.

This virus has had a far-reaching impact, and our hearts go out to everyone who has been affected.  I’m asking all PORVA family members to pray for not only our community, but for families all over the world that have suffered losses and hardships due to COVID-19.  Here are some specific issues we can be praying for:

  • Divine protection and healing for all people and especially for those in our church family.

  • Wisdom for all leaders to take appropriate action for our safety and security.

  • For His Kingdom to come and His will to be done in our nation and church - spiritually and economically.

  • Opportunities to share God’s peace and salvation.

For information about other events, changes or future announcements in the days and weeks to come, please visit our website.  We’re committed to finding creative ways to connect with you during this time to make sure we stay unified, prayerful and encouraged.

As part of the family of God, I assure you that He is with you. God’s got this! “The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid…” (Psalm 118:6)

God's Peace be with you,

Pastor Forbush
